We Are is an original play devised by members of UCI’s Brick Theatre Co. with the guidance of Kaden Kearney. Written and developed by queer and trans folks, this show follows an ensemble as they tell their stories of coming out, fitting in, and discovering their history through letters, scenes, and songs. Due to the abstract nature of this play, the lighting had the freedom to leave behind reality and and go the full mile to support the emotions in each piece through the use of a varied color palette.

This was also a rare opportunity for me to design a show I was also acting in, and it was a fun challenge for me to balance both roles.
